Custom Fit Workplace now available online

Website aims to reshape how we work

The Custom-Fit Workplace , out this month, is more than a book about options for making the modern workplace work better for employers and their employees; it’s a guide for making the workplace more nimble, trust-based and profitable. And the new web site that serves as a companion to the book is more than a resource for information; it’s a place where people can share their own experiences with workplaces that do and don’t allow workers flexible workdays, virtual work options or accommodate caregiving needs. The web site is also part of an exciting initiative spearheaded by MomsRising, an online and on-the-ground grassroots organization of more than a million people working to achieve economic. The Custom-Fit Workplace initiative involves advocacy and outreach to raise awareness of the important of flexible workplace practices.

In addition to a place to share stories and ideas, customfitworkplace.org features a blog , and links to research that provides evidence of the benefits to businesses of instituting programs and policies that help employees successfully blend their work responsibilities with their life obligations. The research shows how employee-friendly workplaces can: improve financial performance; cut costs; and retain committed workers and build loyalty.

Through customfitworkplace.org , MomsRising and the authors of The Custom-Fit Workplace, Joan Blades and Nanette Fondas, hope to help employees and employers implement existing successful strategies for creating custom-fit workplaces and also suggest new strategies.

On customfitworkplace.org people can also sign up to receive emails with news, resources, articles, blogs and information about events related to creating and maintaining a custom-fit workplace, and join a community that is helping to reshape the way we work in the 21st Century.
